We elected to head down the main hallway and after disarming a trap in the middle of the room we moved on into the next room where I snuck ahead to scout the situation and saw a skinless bloody form moving from the highest of 3 crypts back to the wall and so on. It took me a minute to figure out what it was, a type of vampire called a Terkow so I crept back and informed my fellows of what we were about to face and the Tin Man, naturally, charged right in whilst I crept around the side and attacked him a few times before he ran away and yelled something down the other hall and 3 other thralls ran to defend their master and immediately attacked the Tin Man whilst I dealt with the Terkow, that is until he turned the corner looked more or less where I was standing and…..vomited on me. I shadow stepped back to Asuras position to try and clean this crap off when I was suddenly I was drenched by a torrent of water cold, cold water courtesy of Asura.

After regaining the use of my limbs after that downpour I slowly made my way back to the Terkow but not before the thralls managed to almost kill the tin man and the Terkow knelt down and bit him so I gladly finished him off and Asura managed to practically vaporize the remaining thralls and after downing a potion or three we managed to get him back on his feet and decided to head back to the secret door, get inside and bed down for the night. Given that I was practically unharmed and had only expended only 1 Ki point I took the watch all night giving the tin man a chance to rest and recuperate. I heard something from down the hallway and crept up to the edge and watched in fascinated horror as the bones slowly started to come together and in some cases punch through the concrete floor which awoke the others so I ran back and told them what I say and suggested that we de-ass the area with the quickness and bamf we teleported back to the assassins camp.

After stocking up on potions and healing up the tin man we were about to head back in when the tin man saw what he claimed was a serpent folk so I ran to check it out but nothing was there. A few minutes later I also saw a serpent folk and between the three of us we managed to get into the room where I saw it rather quickly and yet I saw only a small trace of purplish smoke which when I pointed it out to Asura he blasted the whole room for reasons only clear to Asura. After that we decided to teleport back to the entrance to the temple and made our way back in. after checking on the remains of the Terkow we pressed on towards the next area and found ourselves in another large room filled with the black dust and as I crept in staying close to the wall I was suddenly grabbed by skeletal hands that had burst from the wall and it wasn’t until Asura put a hand on my shoulder that I realized that I had imagined the whole thing and while I was dealing with that the tin man was dealing with phantasms of his own, something about Kevs head when all I could see was a rock. The tin man then strode of toward the hidden door and broke it down and by the time Asura and I got there we saw him tearing the shit out of the room that I had seen the skeletons rise from but as I looked about there were no holes in the concrete. Something was messing with us whether it was a lich as the others surmised or it was the black dust as I surmised but we did find what we were looking for so we headed back to town.

Fully rested and prepared for next dungeon we decided to head to the one located in the temple of Pharasma. We took our boat trying to locate its location fully expecting it to be hard to find with the Tin Man spotted a tree and what looks like a courtyard…ok so maybe it won’t be so hard to find. I went up first and tied a rope to the tree so the others could climb up. Being the sneaky one I went ahead and poked my head in the doorway after determining that it wasn’t trapped and saw 3 serpent folk somewhat hidden behind 2 giant sarcophaguses and one of them shot some kind of dart at the Tin Man so I moved into the room and made ready to attack. I managed to use the Psychokinetic ooze to take control of one of the serpent fold briefly and then landed a crit on him and watched as the ooze spiked in his blood causing massive damage. The other two serpent folk tried to run away when it became apparent that they couldn’t win and then 2 ghosts floated up through the sarcophaguses and started to attack but thanks to the Tin Man and I spending a lot of gold we now had ghost touch blades and thus made short work of them whilst Azura killed the two retreating serpent folk. The Tin Man and I opened the sarcophagus that wasn’t already open and two more ghosts came out but they quickly fell.

After healing up and having Azura check on the door leading from this room to see if it’s trapped I went ahead to scout it out and reported back that the hallway continued down to a main chamber but also split off to the left and right, the right being behind a hidden door which I stupidly opened without looking for traps first so Azura caught a blast of something that hit him rather hard but a potion of lesser of restoration and he was right as rain (pun intended). In this rather large room was 2 zombie dire tigers and the whole room stunk of death and decay. Yay add two zombies to my tally but unfortunately there were no crystals here so we headed back to the main hallway…

I was standing next to my friend the thought devourer and I remembered my orders, I and the Derhii were to protect our friend at all costs. I was to focus my attacks on the mage intruder so I moved forward stealthily when BANG a lightning explosion went off where my friend was standing so I studied my target for a second and was about to make my attack when I wondered why I would want to attack my….ally Azura. I then turned back to the thought devourer but damn he’s nowhere to be seen but the Derhii was right in front of me so I attacked him and the tin man was able to finish him off and as he fell the thought devourer crawled out of his skull and ran towards this strange black box with copper wires coming out of it. I tried my damnedest to land a hit but he was just too damn fast. Carter managed to land a couple of hits as did Azura and the tin man but I finally managed to land a single hit when the tin man decided to upend a table into this cauldron of green goo for, I hope, a reason. He then cleft the thought devourer in twain.

I can see my brain and given that It’s outside my head I can’t help but wonder how the devourer got it out of my head and into this crystal container without killing me when I noticed something weird about the green goo when I thought about something violent the top of the green goo got all spikey and between Azura and myself we managed to figure out that it is some kind of psychokinetic ooze that seems to respond to my thoughts…although how I’m thinking when my brain isn’t in my head is giving me a headache. we decided to head back and heal up, come back in the morning and seal this place up from the inside and hope no one gets in and kills me.

I dashed down the hall and came upon yet another trap, this one was in a statue that seemed to be designed to thrust his spear into you and you into the wall but I inserted one of my daggers into the trap mechanism moved past it and then removed it. Great more Gorillians just what I needed so I snuck up on of them and tried to sneak attack them but he moved at a critical time and bam he hits me with a rend and that’s the last thing I remember.

To say that I was surprised to wake up is a massive understatement but I seem to be alive and almost in one piece, I seem to be blinded in one eye, oh the eye is still there but I can’t see out of it. Suddenly I heard the sound of battle coming from the main entrance so I snuck past the boggarts who were still trying to resuscitate their fallen leader and after a few seconds I come upon some strangers fighting my ogre friends and about halfway to their side I suddenly remembered that the ogres were my enemies and they ones I was about to attack were my allies so I changed directions and hit the ogres and we killed one but the other one ran away.

We exchanged information on the way back down the temple and we are now apparently on friendly terms with the monkey king and have his permission to stay in the city. I disarmed the two traps that were in our way and we made it back to the final room where there were now two Gorillians and several boggarts to fight. I was about to attack one of the Gorillians when I suddenly found myself on the other side of the room with no memory of actually moving there so I hit one of the boggarts and bounced away to the farthest corner of the room and between the 4 of us we managed to kill the rest of the boggarts and Gorillians.

We found the crystals down in the muck as well as a ring of some kind and thankfully the tunnel ended in the lake, the crystal clear lake somewhat near our ship which we clambered aboard and decided to stay the night. I spent my watch in the crow’s nest keeping an eye on the mercantile district where according to our last reports was where the city guard contingent had fallen back to if they were still alive and the Pathfinders in the government district and they seemed to have made some rather impressive fortifications in the short time they’ve been there.

My sleep was once again rudely interrupted by the tin man doing his shouting routine so I decided to just get up rather than try and go back to sleep. The plan of the day was for me to scout the mercantile district while they waited for me near to where we thought the temple entrance. I used my eagle cape to fly over to the mercantile district and wow we are so very fucked. Gorillians, Charuka and a flying version called Derhii swarmed all over the district. They appear to be building a large hut, presumably for their leader maybe the leader of the military district?

I flew back at top speed to the others transformed and landed on the boat and told them what I saw. Asura’s immediate reaction was to teleport us back to the ship. After some convincing I managed to persuade to allow the sneaky one to check out the temple. This is going to be more difficult than I originally thought, every time I made a move the Derhii would take flight and hover near me for an hour or two but as it turned to night I eventually did find the entrance and even managed to disarm the trap on the door and almost immediately regretted coming here alone. In the room ahead were two ogres sitting around a campfire so I thought I could lure them away from the campfire and towards the door and away from the hallway but they somehow spotted me immediately so I employed one of my tricks and turned invisible and bamfed as far down the hall as I could and after another few minutes and another trap disarmed I found myself looking into a room that had a few boggarts and another Charuka sitting at a campfire eating. After a few minutes deliberation I decided to press my luck and use a death attack on the Charuka. It worked! I severed his spine and was down the hall before the boggarts knew what had happened.

With Kevs loss we decided to press on and see what lay beyond the room with the salt cubes and wouldn’t you know it there was a giant slug like creature on the ceiling that was easily dispatched and eventually we found our way back out to the artisan district. The speaker for the muse was seemingly waiting for us with a stranger in tow. The stranger claimed to be a merc in the employ of the Pathfinders. I immediately warmed to this stranger as he was another person of common sense i.e. coin although Asura still insists that it’s some kind of god and he had the most incredible array of trophies that I had ever seen. It seems that he too was sent her by one of Chivane’s lackeys so while we have lost an ally it seems that fate has given us a new one.

We now had several choices we could either: go and “assist” the pathfinders who were held up in the government district or deal with the far more imminent threat of the intelligent serpent folk in the under city which we decided was more pressing so Asura teleported us back to the assassins camp and I stocked up on potions and swords given that Kev was gone. The closest underground are to the assassins was in the farming district. About halfway there I noticed that we were being followed by the leader of the boggarts, I told Asura and what does the fool do? He calls to the creature to come forth and show himself. As we approached the area where the entrance should be the leader pointed to the foulest watery pit no doubt full of piss and worse and told us that what we seek must be down there. After drinking some water breathing potions and with the tin man in the lead and I bringing up the rear we made our descant into the pool of shit only to find some rather large piranha that attacked me even though I was hidden so I did what any normal person would do, I swam away from the man eating fish and I kept swimming til I found the way down but was met by some kind of merfolk swimming up to join the fray so I swam back to the tin man and pointed them out and thanks to the new guy they stood no chance.

After awakening from that nightmare we gathered up the person who was locked up in the cage in the corner and teleported to the Artisan district in hopes that the radiant muse would be able to heal the woman and while the others dealt with that I crawled into bed in hopes of getting as much sleep as I could before the tin man started with his fucking chanting. Every. Goddamned. Day. My rest is shattered by that oaf and his chanting and banging, I’m honestly surprised Asura hasn’t just killed him yet. Well it seems that the young woman was enfeebled by someone, most likely the undead serpent folk, and after some work was able to restore her to her normal self. She was rather grateful and mentioned that the group she worked for was the pathfinders and that they had found a way into an area underground and that it was teeming with intelligent serpent folk.

After showing us a map she had drawn on the inside of her coat we noted that there should be several other ways in including in this very district so leaving her to recuperate we explored to the southeast and found an entrance perfectly camouflaged as a crack in the mountain so I did what I do and snuck in to have a look around. Great more vampires, at least one by a fire in the center of the main room and a body of one around the corner that looked to have been smashed by something rather big but he’s the only “live” one I see so I went back to tell the others what I saw so they decided to rush in and kill it quickly. Managed to kill the first vamp but two more rounded the corner and managed to lay into Kev and the tin man rather effectively but we dispatched them too.

We came across a larger room that was slanted at a not insufficient angle, must have been cause by an earthquake or something similar so the others stayed back and I snuck on ahead and came across two very large blocks of salt that kinda blocked the way and in the other direction was a locked and trapped door, an altar and two statues on either side of said altar and no other way out that I could see so I tried my luck getting the door open without setting off the trap but no luck so I went back and reported what I had found and with the aid of some potions of mine were able to cross the unstable ground and see if they could get the door open but again no luck. Thanks to Asura and Kev I was able to bypass the lock by the skin of my teeth whilst they went back to the intersection in case I failed but thanks to my focus I didn’t notice the two now animated stone statues almost on top of me but I managed to hide and get myself out of danger just as I notice yet another statue or golem rather this one made of iron as it got out of its seat. The golems are “dead” and we have found more keys to the portal device and some very nice art. Just as we were about to decide where to go next I smelled water and bamf Kev’s water genie appeared and asked for her help on some grand blah blah blah and just like that we are down an ally.

After the last ghost had fled and we were able to take a moment and search this room I noticed a small button on the bottom of the scrying bowl. We decided to explore the life side of the temple before pushing that button and found much the same as we did on the death side except this was dedicated to birth but other than that it was a mirror of the other room so we headed back down to the scrying chamber and pushed the button and found a room with some kind of spherical structure in a small room covered by the same black….stuff that we found up above. Asura mentioned that the spherical thing was a permanent portal spell and that the small broken crystal bits scattered around the floor must have been controlling it somehow when I heard a small whimper from across the room and rather than allow me to go check it out Asura had the bright idea to blow the dust that was positively covering the room around so we could all choke on it…like I said brilliant.

As the dust settled back down we saw that there was a woman in tattered clothing whimpering in the farthest corner of the cage she was in. Naturally Kev was eager to free her and with some help from the tin man managed to get the cage open just as I noticed a glint of something golden by the entrance so I went to check that out. As I brushed away the black stuff I saw several golden idols that seemed to me just didn’t belong here but I figured that taking them couldn’t hurt, boy oh boy was I wrong. The second I picked up one of the idols it melted and encased my left hand and I lost consciousness.

As I woke up I found myself alone in this endless landscape and a figure standing about 40 feet away from me that started talking shit about me being evil blah, blah, blah and he would smite blah, blah, blah. Son of a bitch he can hit hard, I managed to rattle him for a moment and then land a solid hit on him but he eventually managed to “kill” me and I woke up in the room with the dust and wondering what the hell is going on.

After dealing with the ghosts we decided to rest for what was left of the night and head to the temple of Pharasma in the morning. As we approached the temple I noticed that it was by far the largest temple in the district, now I know fuck all about gods but this big of a temple must have been heavily worshiped back in the day and for a deity that, according to the tin man, hated undead this temple must have been desecrated. As we entered the vestibule we saw three different wings to this temple and according to Kev and the tin man the one on the left was towards death, the one straight ahead led was dedicated to fate or prophecy and the one on the right was rebirth. As we made our way towards the death section we saw many rooms dedicated to the care and presentation of the dead and several hidden corridors connecting the one to the other. The top floor contained more benches for seating and a large altar with a ceremonial dagger lying next to some cut pieces of cloth and we were investigating this dagger when it suddenly levitated and flew at Asura and we were once again battling ghosts.

After this encounter we headed back down and moved towards the center chamber and found ourselves heading down a curving flight of stairs that lead to a large chamber with a several small alcoves covered by drapes and when one of them moved the tin man rushed in to fight whatever lay behind the drape. Mummies, ghosts and undead serpent folk oh joy. There were 5 mummies and 2 ghosts who attacked the others. The ghosts were behaving somewhat randomly but they were able to drive Asura from the room at one point and damned near killed the tin man but we managed to kill all the mummies and the boss who just wouldn’t sit still long enough for me to easily kill him.

As the others talked to the muse about something I noticed a sigil on the wall that must belong to the Mantis assassins so I followed it and low and behold I find an assassin who mutters something about the dead rising in the temple district so I head back to the others when I feel this pain after stepping into the light. At first I thought that it was just my eyes adjusting but the longer I stood there the more it hurt and when I got back to the others Kev looked much the same. Thanks to Kev and the tin man we now know that we are under some kind of cure probably from our encounter on Vampire Island. The decision was made to head back to the temple district and ask the assassins for help in curing this curse and finding out more about the rising undead.

Asura teleported us back to the temple district and as we made our way back to the assassins I noticed a form darting away from a building so I snuck off to investigate and when I couldn’t tell anything I went back, grabbed Kev and told her about what I saw and she took a look around and found tracks leading from the buildings second floor to one of the canals and once I looked in on the second floor I couldn’t see anything of relevance so we rejoined the others and arrived at the temple and after talking with Chivane about removing the curse and that the undead were seen around the temple of Pharasma.

As we headed towards the temple of Pharasma I noticed something going into the ziggurat so I snuck in to investigate but I couldn’t see anything for the life of me but the others decided to go in anyways and the next thing I know we’re fighting mummies and damn that sucks I had to modify my normal routine to adjust for their fear effect but we managed to put them down but Kev and the tin man were infected with mummy rot but after a few rounds of lesser restoration Asura teleported us to the ship…for some reason but no sooner had we arrived when Asura, the tin man and I decided to go to sleep while Kev took the first watch. I was awakened by the sound of someone screaming above deck so the tin man and I went up to find no one on deck and someone screaming as he (she?) was thrown off the deck by some unseen force. Ghosts why does it always have to be ghosts, the tin man charged into combat after growing in size while I stayed hidden waiting for the other shoe to drop. The other shoe was the fact that Kev and Asura were not on the ship at all and were in fact fighting what looked like a massive forest fire so I turned into an eagle and flew off to get Kev’s attention and the two of us went back to help the tin man who was grappling what looked to be a possessed crewman before the head came off and laughed all the way to the side of the ship before dropping into the water.
